Welcome!
This webpage contains important information for members of the Beth Israel Chorus.

New members, make sure you are receiving emails from our Listserve. If you get emails from chorus@bethisraelmedia.org, you are all set up.Feel free to send the group an introductory email telling us about yourself, the music you like to sing, your favorite Jewish artists, and your dreams for our group.

  • General: This group is open to any congregant who is willing to work on learning songs with us. It is not necessary to know how to read music or Hebrew. Audio examples will be provided to help people learn the songs. Please let Eric know if you do not have access to a computer that can play MP3 files downloaded from the Internet.
Check your library for books about learning how to sing and breathe properly. Also, Scientific American January 2008 has a very interesting article about the singing voice.
  • Rehearsals: Generally one or two per month, Sunday afternoons, 1pm or 4pm.
  • Performances: Outside performances will generally be limited to two times per year, at selected homes for the elderly.
    • Hanukkah concert.
    • Spring concert in May/June
The congregation may occasionally request us to perform at special Shabbat or Holiday services.
Accompaniment: If you can play chords on a guitar or electric keyboard, let Eric know if you want to help accompany our songs. If you can do 2 things at the same time, you can also play hand percussion instruments.
At any time, feel free to contact Eric with your feedback about anything we're working on, any issues you have with the group, and your vision and dreams for our group.

The best way to contact Eric is to email: erangell@verizon.net.
(NOTE: When you reply to an email for the entire group, it may get resent to the entire group.)
